From humble beginnings...

Son of a pig farmer Chris's journey into the world of butchery began at the tender age of 16. Raised in Romsey, he played rugby for many years at Romsey Rugby Club, Trojans and Hampshire County. As a keen sportsman, Chris has always been interested on where his food has come from and is now a keen cook and BBQ enthusiast.

Starting as a humble tea boy, Chris honed his craft through an apprenticeship and training at Sparsholt College. He immersed himself in every facet of butchery over the next twelve years.

West WEllow, our first shop

In 2020, fate knocked on Chris's door when a retiring butcher in West Wellow presented him and his partner, Ellie, with the opportunity of owning their own shop. Little did they anticipate opening amidst the chaos of a global pandemic and frantic panic buying!

From humble beginnings with just two employees, New Forest Family Butchers has blossomed into a bustling team of three full-timers and a Saturday boy.

Expanding to Winchester and Lyndhurst

Fast forward three successful years and Barlows Butchers in Olivers Battery, Winchester, contacted Chris as they were also looking to retire. The New Forest Family Butcher opened its second shop, expanding the previous shop’s offering to include local produce including fresh fruit and vegetables.

Another year on and another great opportunity, this time in Lyndhurst. Taking on a team of experienced and passionate butchers, they're committed to preserving traditional methods while fostering a warm, local atmosphere.
